Slow deluge reveals
Chilly gloomy winter days
Craving bright sunlight
Sitting in my study, looking through the large windows… it’s a pretty sight. A lot of trees have shed their leaves and yet there are so many still displaying the colours of fall. The wet roads, the cold weather and the drops of rain on barren trees make the days dark and dull. And as it rains slowly, my heart yearns for the sun. Oh! I so don’t like sunless days. The good thing though is that this emotion of disliking such drab days manifests in a Haiku. 🙂
A Haiku is a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five; traditionally evoking images of the natural world

Rain makes one feel many things, I guess – sometimes it is awesome and at other times it will give a strange sad feeling 🙂
Exactly how I feel Teny… and I guess the Haiku says it all 🙂
Thanks a tonne my dear friend 🙂
And it is raining here for the season too 🙂
Oh god… rains in winters are just too much trouble…
‘I always like walking in the rain, so no one can see me crying.’ – Charlie Chaplin
Need I say anything more?
Thanks for sharing…
I love this quote… 🙂 Thanks UK 🙂
Rain was fun in childhood. Now, it seems like a burden and hindrance.
LOL… I can relate with that Kishor… and thus I do have a love and hate relationship with the rains 🙂
Thanks for the comment buddy… 🙂
How romantic!! 😉
Oh yea.. especially the view from the window Ravish… it’s stunning 🙂
Thanks buddy…

me too Polomi… but sometimes when it rains nonstop in the winters here in the US, i really do miss the sun… 🙂
Thank you so much my dear and welcome to Drishti 🙂
So nicely said Archana.. But rain is equally a mood lifter too a few times as during a visit to hill station in rainy season, the scene of continuous dark close passing clouds about bringing bouts of thick showers on and off when observed from the comfort of my stay fills in my heart with an unknown warmth and makes me feel that my life is worth living on this earth!
I totally agree sir… I love the rains too… in fact I was born in the rains…
but the rains have both effects on me – that of happiness and of sadness too… 🙂
Thank you so much sir… 🙂
I like rains.
Good one.
I love them too In, just that sometimes the rains make me feel depressed…

Beautiful lines and I too hate gloomy and dull rainy days ..
Me too me too… they depress me 🙁
Thanks for stopping by Swati 🙂
Sounds a little depressing for me, but well, it can get interesting by the fire, and some hot bajjis and a good cup of ginger tea
Oh yea yea, Desh and I do that when it is raining depressingly heavily 🙂
I simply love the rains! Raining here too 🙂
Wow… enjoy Leena 🙂
I love the rains!! Beautiful lines 🙂
Hi – welcome to Drishti 🙂
Thanks much for the compliment and do keep visiting us often buddy 🙂
I am also not fond of grey days. The sun will come out soon!
IT already has Mridula… am so happy… it’s a beautiful day here today 🙂
I love the rains. Bombay rains are famous for their cranky unpredictablity. I just love those days, when the sun has decided to take a day off and has given way to those dark rainy clouds…
Sitting near the window, watching the deluge with a hot cup of tea and ‘pakode’… Or, if my better half has gone away like that sun, a bottle of some poison, with some ghazals playing in background and couple of my moody friends discussing politics, which I can’t understand for the life of mine…
…if that’s not living, I’d like to know what is. 😀
Oh yes, I completely agree Rakesh… that’s a;; living is all about… 🙂 We love that too 🙂
Cheers to life!! 🙂
I always love rain…nice haiku, dear… 🙂
Thanks Mani 🙂
Very lovely.

It’s raining here too and it’s so cold. Could totally relate to the haiku, dear 🙂
Hahaha, am sure… Thanks Purba 🙂
Lovely Haiku and I too love rain. Tip tip barsaa paani, paani ne aag lagadi. There’s yearning for so many things and many memories also get associated with rain.
Oh yes Fayazji… 🙂 many many memories for sure… 🙂
Thank you so much and really happy to have you over on Drishti 🙂
I too love the rains but only in rainy season. In winter, as it rained here a few days ago, I tell them rain rain go to Spain 🙂
Hahaha, that’s a good one Anupam… But then did they heed to your advice buddy?? 🙂
Sunny side down? But still lovely I’d say, Archana:)
Thanks Amitji… 🙂
How we crave for sunshine for sunshine in the winter and a little cool shade in the summer. Lovely haiku.

Loove the rain, sitting to write and sleep. Then, bright sunshine creep and makes us wanna grab a piece of it. Scintillating words:)
