Fear gripped the maiden,
As she lay lifeless; mourning
the abandoned cage…

Lovely as always! Why beauty has so much sadness?
Well well, that’s a million dollar question I suppose..

Don’t tell her I said this, but I think the bird might have been gone for a while.

Oh yes Teny, I know… sorry it reminded you of Simona :'(
i must try this style of writing, saying beautifully in a few words
“Mourning the abandoned cage”
What an amazing thought. Very nice haiku.
An intense Haiku
Beautifully and remorse..
This is very tragic.
Poignant!
Hmmm, not sure if I should be happy or sad…someone did escape 😀
She might mourn for a while. But it could be for her own good. May be she realizes after the morning season ends. 🙂
Great haiku to capture the emotions.Cages are meant to be abandoned..Guess it will take her a while to understand.
That one is a picture with a latent meaning..I like how emptiness is portrayed. Her heart broken long ago is well depicted by the cobwebs.
Quite intense!
Wonderful Haiku 🙂
Beautiful Archana..

Very effective! Beautiful Haiku.. 🙂
Stunning!
I remember the lines of a Bollywood song-
Tod ke pinjara ek na ek din panchhi ko ud jaana hai! 🙂
A lovely haiku! 🙂
This haiku gets us all thinking. It’s one of those that evokes mixed emotions. You have to be happy for the bird and worried for it too. And you can’t help feeling sad for the girl, too.
Nice one, Archie.
Intense… Beautiful lines as usual… 🙂
