On my window sill,
She sang sweetly night and day.
Ah! Birdie poem…
This Haiku is dedicated to the dozens of parrots who come to my house in India, seeking food; mornings and evenings. They come pretty early in the morning. Sometimes everyone is asleep and that’s when they start hooting aloud to wake up the entire household; to tell us that the hungry brigade has arrived for its morning breakfast. Some sweet soul then wakes up and lays the groundnuts that are already waiting for them in jute bags on the verandah. This has been happening for years now. I’ve lost count of how many. There are couple who do not eat by themselves, and one of us has to take a groundnut and feed it in their beaks. Sigh… Talk about being pampered. But in a city like Bombay, to be privy to such love is a beautiful thing indeed. The featured image is one that I managed to click while the notorious one was still at it! I wrote an article on them some time back. You could read it here…
A Haiku is a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five; traditionally evoking images of the natural world

Nice poem. We usually have pigeons getting stuck in our backside area. Sadly, that’s not sweet as they get worried and cannot find a way out until we intervene.

May the singing be for long! 🙂
Cuteness personified 🙂
I love this. We have no parrots where I live, but we’re treated to some lovely canaries and cardinals in the spring. They’ve just come back this week after a long winters rest and I heard one yesterday morning for the first time in a while.
Birdie song, yes, nice pic!
Awesome parrot story! We have a flock of wild parrots in of all places San Francisco. They are endangered but have a society that looks after them to insure their survival.
This is so sweet. Loved the haiku and the picture 🙂
